Firefox surpasses IE on Europe Posted: 04 Jan 2011 04:02 PM PST Firefox, Mozilla browser, surpassed Microsoft’s Internet Explorer browser as a leader in Europe. This is the first time that Microsoft’s browser loses the first place as the European market leader, according to a measurement made by the company StatCounter statistics. In December, the open source browser Firefox held 38.1% of the European market, while Internet Explorer was 37.5%. Google Chrome already had 14.6% market share (growth compared to the 5.1% held in the same period last year). Apparently, this occurs because Chrome is stealing slices [market] of Internet Explorer, while Firefox is sticking to its existing share. To avoid paying a fine millionaire, Microsoft was forced to open by the European executive for European consumers to switch between multiple browsers, rather than be compelled to use Internet Explorer. The decision ended an antitrust case between the company and the European bloc in December 2009. Since early March, Microsoft gives Europeans the option to choose among 12 sailors in more than 100 million new and old PCs that use Windows operating system. Overall, Internet Explorer has 46.9% market share in December, while Firefox appears 30.8% and Google with 14.9% figure, according to StatCounter. Via: Mashable.

Honeycomb is not coming so soon Posted: 04 Jan 2011 03:44 PM PST Android viagra with single processor core, as the Galaxy Tab, Samsung will not have the minimum requirements for the Honeycomb, Google’s operating system tailored for cheap cialis, according to a manufacturer. Bobby Cha, managing director of the Korean electronics company Enspert, told that Honeycomb require a dual core Cortex A9 to function properly. Until now, the only chipset that includes this processor is the second Tegra, Nvidia, which must appear on many of the tablets Android to be launched at the Consumer Electronics Show this week. Cha said that a minimum screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels may also be necessary, but stressed that the tablets with Honeycomb come with screens of 7 inches or larger. The Galaxy Tab Samsung has a 1 GHz processor Hummingbird and screen resolution of 1024 x 600. The company has even suggested that the updates to the Galaxy Tab would remain Android 2.3 (“Gingerbread”), but Cha’s comments seem to seal the fate of Tab as a product of rapid obsolescence. Meanwhile, Google remained relatively quiet about what comes with Honeycomb – even if the version number in question is 2.4 or 3.0. Andy Rubin, vice president of engineering at Google, showed a preliminary version of Honeycomb in a tablet from Motorola in December, but was economical in the details. All we know is that the version of Android-friendly tablets allow the use of larger screens and apps for Home and Back buttons based software. 81% of users search for health on the Internet Posted: 04 Jan 2011 03:35 PM PST The number of people seeking health advice on the Internet should soar as workers turn the holiday season, but few will check the origin of information, according to an international survey released on Tuesday. A study by researchers at the London School of Economics (LSE) commissioned by the company Bupa, from the private health sector, showed that with laptops and smartphones poised to overtake computers in 2012, most health information is available online and there are more ways to access them than before. The survey of Bupa Health Pulse heard more than 12 000 people in Australia, Brazil, Britain, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Mexico, Russia, Spain and the United States and found that 81 percent of those who have access to Internet use the web to get advice on health, medicine, or conditions requiring medical care. The study also found that 68 per cent of those who have Internet access use it to seek advice on certain drugs and four out of 10 seeking information about experiences of other patients on a health problem. In Britain, where the Bupa predicts there will be 40 million visits to websites of health this week, as people try to fulfill New Year’s resolutions, experts warn that many health information found on the Internet is not checked and users will have difficulty knowing what to trust. According to the researchers, this new strategy may be the first to offer a simple way to addicts break the cycle of addiction. If successful, the vaccine could also aid in the treatment of dependence on other substances such as nicotine and heroin. The long-lasting immunity against the effects of cocaine is a result of activation of the mouse’s own immune system, which prevents the drug reaches the brain. The vaccine, created by a team led by Dr. Ronald G. Crystal, causes the mouse to produce antibodies capable of binding and “hijack” the molecules of cocaine before they cause a sensation of pleasure. The secret is the combination of elements: a chemical very similar in its structure, cocaine, and components of adenovirus, a common cold virus. The researchers broke the adenovirus, keeping only the components that trigger an immune response of the body and eliminating those that actually cause the disease. They then arrested the substance similar to cocaine, that they have almost identical to the drug in these proteins.
